Sister Schools Exchange Small Grants Program

Grant Program closed

Sister Schools Exchange Small Grants Program is closed. 28 funding applications were received and will be assessed at the next AMI Advisory Board meeting.

The Sister Schools Exchange Small Grants Program (SSESG) was created by the Australia-Malaysia Institute (AMI) to encourage broader avenues of contact and exchange between Australian schools and their Malaysian counterparts.

Under the program, the AMI intends to make a number of grants each year from between $3,000 to $5,000 to assist Australian and Malaysian sister schools to continue to be active in building their relationships, through visits and exchanges.

In addition to expanding the level of personal contact between staff and students at Australian and Malaysian schools, it is envisaged that this funding will contribute to improving teaching skills and the development of curricula at participating schools.

The program is open to any Australian or Malaysian school that can demonstrate:

  • an on-going collaboration with its Australian or Malaysian sister school; or
  • a plan to commence a sister school relationship with an Australian or Malaysia partner school.

It is envisaged that most of the funding will support existing school partnerships but there may be cases where the AMI decides to fund a new partnership.

The AMI will consider applications for SSESG grants at its regular meetings which are usually held in June, November and March. Expressions of Interest should be submitted using the Online Expression of Interest Form and must be received by the AMI Secretariat by the deadline for the receipt of expressions of interest for the relevant meeting.
